Child marriage in Mandya

The incident took place in a village in Mandya district where a student was sent for examination.

On March 27, the parents of a Srirangapatna student married a relative of a KR Pate taluk at their home. Then, on the 28th of May, when the Essesscelcy Examination commenced, Tali and Kangar were sent to write.


The student who came to write the exam told her friends about marriage. This has exposed friends of the marriage of a minor.

Authorities have protected the girl after information was leaked. At present the girl is in the Mandalaya Bal Mandir.

According to reports, the authorities immediately visited the student's home on March 18 and 25 and warned the parents not to marry them after complaining to the authorities about the child's marriage to a student on May 18.
